During the WeBS ( Wetland Bird Survey) on Sunday 20 September 2009, no Eiders were counted in Lamlash Bay and no Eiders were counted in Whiting Bay.
This was unusual, a first for both experienced counters. If anyone would like to take part in this survey this month please contact Kate Sampson at the Rangers Centre Brodick Country Park (ksampson@nts.org.uk) and she will allocate a stretch of coast line where you could count.
The Eider Survey in the Clyde is under the direction of Chris Waltho currently President of the SOC ( Scootish Ornithologists Club). Chris has been studying Eiders on the Clyde for a number of years. This link gives further information clydeeidernewsno1august2001.pdf (application/pdf
