How to use the News Pages

These News Pages contain more up to date information.

On the left hand side is a list of categories that when you click on the name will expand. In each category there is a brief summary of each note. When you click on each summary it opens to give the full note. A photograph is often used to illustrate the note and this can be seen by clicking the attachment.

Here is a little bit about each category.

Welcome - a brief statement on Birding on Arran

Monthly Sightings - a selection of highlights from each month. These have appeared as bird notes in the “Arran Banner”, a local paper.

Recent Sightings - some recent bird sightings on Arran

Photos - there are five sections in this category. Click on Photos and it will expand to -
The Coast; Uplands; Woodland and Farmland; Burns and Ponds; and Gardens. Each section has a selection of photos.

Notes on Specific Birds - background notes on Arran Birds.These also have appeared as bird notes in the “Arran Banner”, a local paper

General Birding Articles - more general birding notes. These also have appeared as bird notes in the “Arran Banner”, a local paper.

Surveys and how to get involved - Arran is under-watched and under-recorded. All contributions of bird sightings are welcome. I am not just interested in rare or unusual birds, but also common birds...

Arran Bird Talks and Walks - activities during the year

Accommodation on Arran - some contact details for accommodation providers who have asked for their details to be on the News Pages.

Injured Birds - some contact details for organisations who help with injured birds

Local SOC Bird Recorders – just in case you watch birds in other local areas.

Wild Birds and the Law - the welfare of the birds come first - know the law

On the right hand side of the page are links to useful birding websites.
